The problem with doing playoffs especially with 4 teams is that team #5 would be complain that they got left out and should be in it, and if there were 8 the #9 team would say they should be there ahead of someone in there. Pretty much no matter what happends there will never be a perfect system cause someone will always feel they got screwed out of being where they think they should.

well if your the #9 team in the country its probably unlikely that you would win a national champ anyways

Sure there is, a 117 team playoff, but we all know this will never happen.

that would take a while to play all the games Yea that would take way to long, I like the idea of a playoff, i am just not sure how many you would have involved in it. I would say 8 teams which would make 3 rounds. Having less might cut out a team that is really close to the others and should be there and more than that would be just too many more games than they already play.

I will stick with a 4 team playoff. Anyone outside of that probably shouldn't have a shot at an NC anyway.

I could see 4 as well, I really am not sure which would be best, any more than 8 would be too many cause it would take too many games to decide national champion.

As much as im in favor for the playoff system it will never happen. there is no maybe about it. i would love to see a playoff format because, in my opinion, it shows the most deserving team to own the trophy. but it wont happen.

Sure there is, a 117 team playoff, but we all know this will never happen. Well, we sort of have this. If any of the 117 wins out, with the BCS they might have a chance of going to the championship. If they lose they don't. Unfortunately, some teams can still play after losing, which sort of ruins the playoff=regular season analogy.

Okay, so they want their precious bowl games.
Take the top 8 teams at the end of the season, using the current BCS forumla.
The week after the Big12 title and SEC title games, hold first round playoffs
1 vs 8
2 vs 7
3 vs 6
4 vs 5
The games will be played on the higher ranked team's homefield. example: 1 vs. 8 will played at #1's homefield.
next week
winner of 1-8 vs winner of 4-5
winner of 2-7 vs winner of 3-6
at a neutral site
2 teams will be left at this point. The 2 winners of this small tourney goto the BCS title bowl game that year(orange bowl this year)
The other 6 play in the other 3 BCS bowl games.
Every other bowl eligible team plays normal bowl schedule
Why is this so hard for the NCAA to figure out? There's plenty of time in between the end of the season and the beginning of bowl games to fit this in. The bowls still get their matchups and the title bowl is really for title unlike last year where we had 2 bowls that were for the title. As far as whining that could come from a #9 team not making the 8 team cut, I say if you're that far back you shouldn't be playing for the NC anyways.

That's a very good idea and I don't understand why they continue to use this dumbass system.
