Cal Stays Undefeated, Gains Unanimous #1 Ranking @ Washington W 79-69 -– The Golden Bears of California were really tested in their first road game of the conference season. The lead had to of switched hands at least 15 times in this game. The Bears stay undefeated after their first game with a ranked opponnent (#24). Key Stat -– Turnovers, Cal – 16, Washington – 25 Player of the Game -– Tashaan Forehan-Kelly – 30 Pts, 4 Stls, 2 Asts @ Washington St W 81-61 – Again the Cal opponent was able to keep it close in the first only to have it all fall apart in the second. At the half the Bears were only leading by 3, but the offense really turned it on in the second to pull out the blowout win once again. Although there were some big negatives about the game. Shooting guard, Tashaan Forehan-Kelly, the highest rated player on the team, and small forward Erik Bond, both starters were injured on inside drives. Forehan-Kelly will be out for 3 weeks with a broken toe, while Bond is out for 1 week with a sprained wrist. Key Stat – Points in the Paint, Cal – 72, Washington St – 26 Player of the Game -– Amit Tamir – 25 Pts, 12 Rebs, 4 Blks USC W 81-65 – The score doesn’t really show how close this game actually was. The game was at a single digit deficit pretty much all night, until the last few minutes. USC gave Cal more than they asked for in this one. Key Stat – Points in the Paint, Cal – 65, USC – 44 Player of the Game – Conor Famulener – 15 Pts, 10 Rebs, 4 Blks Note: The so-called injured players actually weren’t injured for the game. Must be a glitch. UCLA W 76-68 – The Golden Bears were in total control in the first half, jumping out to a 20-point lead, but the #16 Bruins of UCLA almost mustered the miraculous comeback in the second. But, Cal keeps it’s undefeated season alive despite the close call. Key Stat – 3-Points Made, Cal – 4, UCLA – 0 Player of the Game – Amit Tamir – 24 Pts, 12 Rebs, 3 Blks
