Ea finally looks like they're improving it. All-Star Weekend looks unbelievable! The Dunk Contest looks so good, they even have Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith calling the action for it. And FINALLY they've updated the Dynasty Mode! They re-did the contract system with actual money and not points. There is rookie scouting in season now, a lot of the stuff from the other EA games. Me and PJ were watching them in Digi-Class. We were both blown away.
The ASW looks AWESOME. We saw J-Richardson go under his legs 2 times and slam it and DR. J and Kareem gave him 10's. But my only worry is that in the video the timing seemed off on dunks, they would freeze and and quick spin all the sudden, I just hope it's a slow-mo feature.
I like the Retro/Shoe Store. The gameplay is key.

That's what 75% of people said about the football game and now about 5% still think that.

I rented both games. Dunk Contest is alright, a little overhyped, Lives Gameplay still isn't close to ESPN's.
ESPN's graphics are incredable. The Franchise Mode is nice and the gameplay is awesome. Edit Shoe mode is awesome, made a custom Bucks shoe for Michael Redd (Green/Purple) Redd is a 88 Rank also.
Final Grades come in 2 hours.

[glow=red,2,300]ESPN NBA 2005[/glow] Cool New Feature A bigger 24/7 Mode, which I hate anyway. And a create a shoe mode which is fun as hell. Gameplay The best part of the game. There are more plays, the speed is better regulated so guys don't shoot off when you hit speed, they take a second to get faster. The crowd is awesome. They are all 3-D and they go crazy when they should. Graphics You see sweat on the jerseys. The faces are incredable. The jerseys move like they should, the court looks amazing. What Sucks Jersey # options are not there, you still can't edit there points in Franchise Mode. Whats Cool The Graphics are amazing, and the Create-A-Shoe.
[glow=red,2,300]NBA Live 2005[/glow] Cool New Feature The much talked about Dunk Contest. Gameplay Much improved, but still not at ESPN's level. The game is smoother and the speed is much better. Graphics Better then last year but again, not nearly at ESPN's level. The faces still don't look good, LeBron's face isn't close to the real thing. Improved but could be better. What Sucks They focused too much on the Dunk Contest and didn't make the Franchise Mode that much better. They had a chance to beat ESPN but they didn't What's Cool The Dunk Contest. It's cool but come on, their only dunks. A Basketball game should be Basketball and EA dropped the ball. They focusted too much on the dunkhappy fans instead of the hardcore gameplay fans. The Dunk Contest is cool but it overshadows the whole game. I would it to easy. I got 50's almost every time on the hardest level. It's fun but I want to play Basketball.
Using GameSpots Ratings
[glow=red,2,300]NBA Live 2005[/glow] 8.4 [glow=red,2,300]ESPN NBA 2005[/glow] 9.1

I finally got into Dynasty mode for NBA Live so here is my official review. The most hyped feature for NBA Live was All-Star Weekend. And the Dunk Contest was one of the most hyped features ever for any sports game. Well, it didn't disappoint. The dunk contest is very addicting. There are so many different dunks you can do. My Favorite I've dunk so far is the 360 through the legs. The learning curve takes a while but once you figure it out you won't be able to stop playing. The commentary for the dunk contest is phenomonal. Last year I thought Albert/Fratello was the best ever and now Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson deliver the best commentary. Johnson and Smith also are the announcers for the three point shootout. They do a good job there as well. The learning curve for the three point shootout is not nearly as long. It's pretty fun but not as challenging as the dunk contest. They also added the Rookie-Sophomore game. I'm glad they finally added the feature. This year the sophomore's will slaughter the rookie's. The gameplay is a lot different this year. It's not the same arcade style game play you're accustomed to. The pace of the game isn't as fast. The pro-hop is not nearly as dominating as it was last year. This year when you drive to the basket with the pro-hop the player loses the ball half the time. The shooting has been fixed this year. They don't miss everything so you don't have to mess around with sliders. The gameplay has changed a lot but I still like it. It's more challenging to go inside this year but they added a new tip in button so your player will try to tip it back in instead of just rebounding it. The graphics have been improved. Especially player faces. Last year they really only had noticable player faces for the stars but this year they even have them for the worst guy on the bench. Like the Bucks Daniel Santiago, I noticed his face right away. It's nice that they're no longer just another guy on the bench. Then there is the Franchise Mode. EA seemed to pretty much ignore the feature the last few years. This year they actually worked to improve it. They added in-season rookie scouting which I thought was a great feature. Your receive dynasty points after you play games and use can use them to scout players from the U.S, Africa, South America, Europe, and Asia. You can also use them to train your players during the season. They also added the PDA. The PDA is your (the gm's) e-mail. You'll receive E-Mail's from the owner, NBA, players, scouts, and coach. It works similar to MVP's E-Mail except you receive E-Mail's from more than just players. They also added in-game simulation like MVP where they sim the 1st quarter and then you can intervene in any quarter you want. In 2005 the salary's are now improved. They go by actually money and not points. You don't have the 2004 glitch anymore where you can sign anyone to the minimum. Overall I thought NBA Live improved a lot. The Dunk Contest will keep you coming back for a long time. It's much better than the last few years. I was very disappointed with 2004 because they didn't add anything but Albert and Fratello. In 2005 they added several new features. NBA Live is a great game and definitely worth $40. Graphics 9 Gameplay 8 Features/Lasting Appeal 9 Sound 9 Overall 8.7
