Best Middle Linebacker, easily.
Best Linebacker and defensive player is Lawrence Taylor.
(Though it is nice to hear a Maryland grad get respect.)

i think he's easily in the top five. but what separates lewis from other defensive stars is his mojo. you've never seen another player lead his team the way ray the murderer does. he's like a coach who gets to play with his team. i swear his leadership has earned the black byrds wins when they shouldn't have won. he's just amazing to watch.

The best ever debate is a dumb one. He's a GREAT player, no need placing them in numbered lists because their all great in their own ways.

So how do you define "best"? Most votes? Nope, that means most popular. Most sacks? What if someone else had twice as many INTs? Most INTs? See above. Ability to disrupt a game? Getting closer, but there were others as good or better than Ray. Ability to get away with murder? Probably, but irrelevant in the football story. (Besides, OJ did a much better job of getting away with murder)

I think you hit it right on the head you can't define Best. The only best you can say if football really is this team has the best record

Record doesn't really mean everything either. SOS in college is a big part of who makes the Championship game, as it should. Also, you could could go 11-5 with not losses under 10 points and 7+ wins by more then 10 when another team could be 11-5 and have 3 losses by 20+ and only 3 wins with by more then 10 points. I mean as long as you win, you win but some teams just get a lot of breaks and that doesn't mean they are the best, but it helps.

what if in our divsion the records were Packers 16-0 Bears 2-14 Vikinings 4-10 Lions 0-16 We all would know that the Packer have the BEST Record but as I said you can't say best about a player unless you are Talking about stats

Ray Lewis is the best defensive player to ever play the game! Al Wilson is a close 2nd right behind Lewis at the Middle Linebacker position.
