And I was wrong (that flashback to Lew Alcindor dunking against Drake in the Final Four threw me off)..... So I checked. I was remembering George Mikan (sorry, Depaul folks, that I was thinking of an Oklahoma A&M guy ;D). Mikan was resposnible for the no defensive goaltending rule in the late 40's. Wilt was responsible for the no offensive goal tending rule implemented in 1958. So I really was wrong about why he started the dipsy doo shot. Lew Alcindor was the main reason that dunking was banned - in 1968. In 1977 it was reinstated.

Nice sleuthing, Roy_who. You Kansas grads are good for something. Speaking of which, how's things in the great Northwest? Not to be off topic, or anything.

roy, I guess someone in your area is spreading rumors that Micah Downs is withdrawing his verbal to KU. He denies it, but it supposedly changing High Schools for his senior year. Back when they were thinking of raising the rim to 12 feet, because of Wilt, I thought they should do away with the rim and just make a hole in the floor so us short ball handlers would have an advantage.

word, things in the Northwest are all wet - it's rainy, which rarely happens from July 5 to September 30 up here, and my trip to Canada got derailed by a $1,000 clutch replacement job, the need for which was identified on Interstate 5. Oh well......
And bills, I think the Micah Downs rumor was pretty well dispelled. It probably had no legs until Shay Wild-bore decided to make a headline teaser out of it. I suppose some UW hopeful heard he was changing schools and missed the part about him just enrolling in a different high school (shocker - one with a decent basketball team) for his senior year.
