www.theacc.comOct. 17, 2003 Division A.................. Division B Maryland................... Virginia Clemson.................... Georgia Tech NC State.................... North Carolina Wake Forest.............. Duke Florida State.............. Miami Boston College........... Virginia Tech Teams play all five opponents in own division plus one primary crossover (directly across on grid) in the opposite division and two rotating opponents in opposite division. I just wanted to make sure that everyone understands that the ACC has already decided this. What is above is the divisional alignment for football. Basketball will not be using the divisional alignment, all team will play every other team in the ACC once, and a particualar two schools twice. For example, Maryland will play Duke and UVA twice, UVA will play Maryland and Virginia Tech twice, and Duke will play UNC and Maryland Twice. They will rotate which other two schools in addition to their primary two rivals a particular school plays twice.

Didn't know that the basketball wasn't using the format, but I did know the division split back on the 17th when I posted it the first time. I was just thinking of better ways that it could be done without splitting up FSU and Miami. Still say Clemson will win their division, if it existed this year, which it doesn't.

"Basketball will not be using the divisional alignment, all team will play every other team in the ACC once, and a particualar two schools twice." It's a smart move on the ACC's part. The divisional alignment is only necessary in football, where you need to pick 2 teams to play for a championship. In basketball you have a tourney so the 2-division format doesn't really help.

This is the way they should have done the divisions:
A Duke UNC Wake NC State Virginia Florida State
B Maryland Georgia Tech Clemson Miami Boston College Virginia Tech
You MUST have Duke, Carolina, NC State and Wake playing each other EVERY year in football, and twice a year in basketball. If not, the conference is fu*ked.

- rwdodson I agree, it only matters in Football. Dukeman, who cares if Duke and Wake play in football. The big games will be Miami, FlaState, UVA, VT and then in the next tier NCState, Georgia Tech and Maryland. In basketball, you will get your Tobacco Road games where they really matter. This whole expansion was all about football anyway!

I sure as hell care about the Duke-Wake football game, as does everyone in North Carolina.
And if you think we will keep the Tobacco Road games in hoops, you're mistaken. Duke only plays State once this year, and Carolina only plays Wake once as well.
FU*K EXPANSION

I don't know, I like the expansion. It adds another ACC football game, and makes slightly different basketball matchups (not that BC, VT, or Miami are any good). It might actually help the NC basketball teams to not beat each other up so much, and all 4 can have higher seeds in the tourney.

Well at least it is more football to watch.
