I would have to guess Miami, since they are now in it.

Uh, FSU, Miami, Clemson, GT. I think they are fairly good this year. SEC has USC (most years, but not this one), LSU, and Auburn. Everyone else that makes it just has one off lucky years.

The Astros were bound by the commissioner's hiring guidelines, which includes interviewing minority candidates for front office or management openings, and therefore needed Commissioner Bud Selig's approval to dispense with that process and give the job to the man who piloted the team to within one victory of the World Series. Do we really need a guideline for this? If we force them to interview candidates, how long before we force hiring of minority candidates?

I can see the BoSox fans booing him too. The Sox have nothing to fear, the Yankees are poorly managed, and fighting an arms race that they will lose when they run out of money (which won't happen soon). I don't see the Sox becoming dominant, but the Yankees will eventually come down to earth. This is twice in a row that the "best team money can buy" hasn't won it all. Steinbrenner will make HUGE changes if they don't next year.

If Steinbrenner had a clue about building a team instead of buying one, they would be unstoppable. He is intent on going out and signing big name players with obscene contracts, and then is stuck with them when they don't produce. With that kind of money they could have an awesome farm system, and just rotate good players in and out. Plus they would have players they could trade to other teams. Oh well, just more reason to hate the evil empire.

Good call. Maybe now ESPN can stop showing the commercials of the people who argue about the Sox finally winning it. And the Mastercard commercials.

A 1918 RedSox fan would be over 100 years old. Nobody near the east coast lives that long. Smog kills. It's only been 86 years. They could be 90-95.

Red Sox win. If Fox would stop talking about how the world was in 1918 already. It is already old. Congrats on their win, but they weren't the same team. Those people aren't even alive for the most part.
$5 says someone finds some old lady who rooted for the 1918 Sox as a kid, and still roots for them from her nursing home. Complete with Sox cap.

I bet they pull an emergency authority trick and outlaw alcohol before game 4. They are trying already, but they will place the city under marshal law to prevent riots.
Or they will have every cop in the city working during that game.

If people kill themselves over baseball then society would be better off without them. If Boston lost in 7, they would just point at the curse again, and even more people would talk about it.

Hell yeah they do. I just hope John Kerry doesn't jump on the bandwagon and ruin it for me.
