Well, they did give up 21 pts, and Purdue didn't. Against a team from a better conference no less. At least this poll has some respect for LSU that doesn't put them behind two teams that A) didn't play, and B) one of them HAS to lose anyway. The media are all retarded. As an aside, if Clemson beats A & M by 20 pts, do they get to automatically jump 3 spots.

If either of those two teams have a good season, it seems the media will make them into national champions. At least we have an actuall game to back up our claim to the title.

By the way...does anyone here know why SC is still at #1. Oklahoma is an easy #1 pick for me. SC should be right next to LSU.

I think the Top 10 is perfect except I think FL should go up 2 spots to 9 and bump W VA out of the top 10.

Yeah, I don't see how USC doesn't drop at all, since the last poll they lost their best player and got outplayed by the 8th best team in the ACC. Frankly, I think Texas was the only top 10 team that was impressive in their win. Oklahoma wasn't horrible, but Texas was very strong. And North Texas is possibly a better team than Bowling Green this year.

I would say that right now it is a close call between Purdue and Minnesota. I would give a slight edge to Purdue for pitching a shutout.

West Virgnia shouldn't be in the top 15. I agree with you on this one tiger, W. Virginia will end up as a top 25 team but they are not good enought to start this high.

I agree with you on this one tiger, W. Virginia will end up as a top 25 team but they are not good enought to start this high. If West Virginia were in a real conference (ACC, SEC, BIG 12, or BIG 10) they would be a middle of the pack team and would be lucky to make a bowl game. I can't wait to see them get kicked around in a BCS bowl. Maybe Maryland will beat em 51-0 this year and put the Mountaineers in their place. USC is not the best team in the country, Oklahoma is. As long as the Trojans win their games (OU could beat Texas by 100), they WILL remain at the number one spot. When it is time for the Red River Shootout, I will be hoping for a blowout regardless of who wins. If my theory is correct, SC will probably remain in the #1 spot (and would probably have increased their lead.).

USC could probably lose their next game (not saying they will), and then win the rest of their games by a touchdown or two in the POWER PAC 10, and still end up number 1 at the end. How you ask? Unless they get blown out in a loss to Hawaii, they will drop no farther than third. The other two teams will lose at some point likely, and therefore USC by virtue of losing sooner would end up number 1. Even if they don't win convincingly. And because the BCS got changed so the computers can't say USC plays sucky teams, they will get a BCS top 2 as well.

Hopefully USC will lose a couple times in Pac 10 and wont make title game.

Everyone keeps saying that the SOS or quality wins are out, but with the "human" polls being a larger part of the equation now. I think it will reflect those in the polls by the "humans", so when Texas beats OU , they could actually move past the USC's, Miami's, Florida's, Florida St's and LSU's if they struggle in any of their games...

If SOS were part of the human polls, USC wouldn't be number one at the end of last season or this season. I've said it before. People don't watch all the games. They don't have all the stats. They look at a box score and see someone beat a team that they think isn't any good, but really only has 1 loss. Or they see USC beat San Jose St and think that because it's a cali team, they're good. Human polls are fallible. Fickle. And most often wrong.
