their defense is absurd!!!, if they give up more than 80 points they are playing horrible defense!, they don't have the greatest offense but that doesn't matter because their defense is simply the best, today they gave up 39 at halftime and i looked at that and just thought they must be having an off night or the other team must be on fire, am i wrong?

They are playing really good tonight, they are giving up 68 points with 6 minutes left to go in the 4th quarter. And it is against the high scoring denver team and they are at home, that is incredible. i am not a big spurs fan but that is just downright scary that they can do that on the road and against the nuggets.

Not only do they play good defense, but they have very good depth.
To name a few...
- Rose - Mercer - Turkoglu

When you have Bowen and Duncan there are some top flight defenders...And include Radoslav Nesterovic blocking and playing some defense that helps....Tony Parker and Emanuel Ginobili add speed and energy. also.

Yeah he never gets mentioned in the NBA's best defensive player but I think he deserves to but we all do know he is a top 5 defensive player there is not arguement there.

Like Artest gets no respect because he doesn't get 14 rebounds a game.

they're doing it again tonight, 58 points scored against them with 7 1/2 minutes left in the fourth, that's insane

The Spurs coach Popovich has always stressed defense first and position on offense in order to win games plus having a player like Duncan with upstarts like Parker, Ginobili and Bowen who should be a first team all NBA candidate on defense makes it easier for the Spurs to defend and win in the end. New additions of Rasho and role players in Horry, Mercer, Hedo, Hart and Brown only add to the solid experience in Rose and Willis and all are starting to really jell after accepting their roles. This evening local sport media in San Antonio announced the Spurs have signed Free Agent Charlie Ward and if is true the Spurs have signed another solid defensive player who can backup Parker at the point and should be a threat from the 3 point line. The Spurs concept is team ball over individual play and as long as Popovich has a say in the matter the Spurs will be in position to contend and defend their title.
