Matt, as someone who probably fits the definition of evangelical Christian, I can assure you I am not in a cult. There are some cults that disquise themselves as evangelical christians. An example is people who let their family members die rather than seek medical assistance. That is stupidity and those people are following a man (their leader) rather than Christ. An evangelical Christian is a Christian who shares his faith with other people. The Bible says to go into all the world and share the gospel. Every Bible believing Christian should fit that definition. IMO

Catholics are just obsessed with making money. That's all I have to say. ;D I don't think you can LABEL this as a Catholic thing. Lots of people from all religions are money hungry.

Back when Jim Bakker was on TV and prior to his prison term, he was a joke even among evangelical Christians. We used to say that each morning after Jim Bakker opened the mail and got all the checks out that little old ladies had sent in he would put them all in a basket and then toss them in the air and tell God to keep what he needed. He would then say, "Praise God, we get it all today." SciFan is right, greed crosses all denominational lines.

We left the Catholic church last year, and I must say i'm happy with my new one.

Sorry, it's probably just my old church with the problem. But my dad stayed with the church.
