I visited UW's campus this weekend and it was badass!! I enjoyed it so much that I am applying to graduate school there! It's probably a good thing to b/c the wife wants to move back home to Madison.

I wanted to go to KU originally and I will still apply there, but the wife wants to go back home and she has no desire to work in Omaha. Actually UW is a top ten school in planning and two of the faculty members at KU received their doctorates at UW. I will either be a Jayhawk or a Badger. I don't think I can make a bad choice with either one.

Their Urban Planning program is definitely badass! But I really enjoyed the campus, it resources, and the nightlife. It reminds me a lot of Austin minus the 100 temps!

Why not UNC? Is their architecture school not as good as KU and UW?
You will avoid the hot temps in Madison but will have a much colder winter! I don't know about the hunting up there....lots of deer but don't know about the bird hunting up there.

Plenty of Ducks and Geese in Wisconsin. Just don't shoot any of the Big Ass Birds with the white heads and curved beaks. The DNR and the Feds both get upset if you shoot the bald eagles!!! The Loons are protected too, I am pretty sure. LOL -Poleon

I was going to apply to UNC but I want to diversify my education. They are one of the top 3 planning programs in the US so I want to do my doctorate there. Like I said earlier, my wife wants to be near some family so we are problably going to Madison. I enjoy myself every time we go there so its no big deal to me. I am much more of a fisherman anyway and I've not gotten the opportunity yet to go walleyye or muskie fishing yet. I will get my yearly bird hunting fix when I go to Tulia,TX for pheasant hunting.

Actually, drive west to South Dakota for the best pheasant hunting in the US. My dad goes up there yearly even tho there are plenty of pheasants in KS.

My wife's step grandparents live in SD, so I go there every year. However, this is a yearly thing I do with my buddies.
