im looking for all opinons on the mavericks. good or bad. i strongly think that the sheed trade wouldnt have benefited the mavs. i might have been a repeat of the 00' pickup of rodman. not as intense, but trouble on and off the court. in my opinion dallas needs illaguksas or thomas, but they are questionable whether they can withstand the pressures of the west. i also believe that don nelson might be a problem. he makes the team concentrate on offense not defense. what does it matter if ur scoring 102 a game and losing? bottom line DEFENSE WINS GAMES, OFFENSE SELLS TICKETS. learn it well

They definitely need a strong center or PF, almost anything could be done to beef up the D. Or is the problam just Nelson?

they are pretty much sealed to their fate, i can't see them changing their team because they are all All Stars, and i think dallas needs more role players like when they had van exel last year, and they won't trade all stars for role players, until they get some cap room and are able to find people on free agency they are going to stay mediocre

in my honest opinion it is nelson. he is so soft. my example. LAST SEASON. LA. 27 POINT COMEBACK VICTORY. enough said. nelson kills clock at the beginning of the 4th and sometimes as early as the end of the 3rd. if u are beating the team drive it to them until about 5 left in the game then kill clock. dont lay off cause any other team wont give u that curteosy. another thing about nelson is he never calls timeouts when they need them to be called. whoever watches the mavs play has to agree with that. if u see a team go on a run, CALL A TIMEOUT! dont wait until they score 10 or 12 straight then call a timeout. my example is the NY game last week. riley might be in dallas's future if riley has the willingness to lead this young team to the promise land.

You are so right on that. it doesn't only take players to win, it takes coaching. I for one know that as a Minnesota sports fan.

Same goes for the Hawks, they definetly have the players but they cant win and it is mainly because of the style of ball they play and their coach. They dont play as a team and that really kills the team.

im not too familiar with the hawks lineup but the ones i do know are top notch quality. mavericks need to do some work with the coaching. nelson needs to set focus on defense. fortson can rebound but doesnt score so nelson doesnt keep him on the court. they need to make a smart move, not a move just to make a move.

The Hawks lineup is digusting... and Dallas needs to trade for some true D talent... Get a player like Artest someone who can lock just about anyone down, and scores but not 25ppg. Then get a role player and leader and then you might be able to see some improvement.

THEO RATLIFF FROM ATLANTA WOULD BE A GREAT FIT FOR DALLAS .A TOUGH GUY IN THE MIDDLE WOULD ADD ALOT.
