MILWAUKEE -- Expected to make an impact on Marquette's frontcourt, James Matthews' career with the Golden Eagles is over.
Marquette announced Sunday that Matthews, a highly touted freshman forward, will not be returning to the school.
Matthews, who never saw action, was suspended after the season opener in order to focus on academics. The 6-8 forward was considered a prized recruit from Detroit and had been mentioned as a possible starter.
"The best thing for James is to pursue his education and basketball career at another institution," coach Tom Crean said. "If he applies himself in the right way, he can be productive. Our basketball program wishes him the best."
Matthews had a checkered high school career and was ineligible his senior year at Detroit's Denby High School because he reportedly did not attend classes his freshman year at a high school in Los Angeles.
This is very disappointing because he had a lot of potential.

If you don't give a shit just leave it at that and let us that care discuss it instead of making such a dumbass post.
Anyway....lol.....That really sucks, he was really damn good, at least the Golden Eagles are decent so it's not a HUGE blow.

Anyway....lol.....That really sucks, he was really damn good, at least the Golden Eagles are decent so it's not a HUGE blow. His scholarship is going to Ousmane Barro who is a better player anyhow. Barro has really good size at 6'10'. He was ranked #45 in LeBron's class on NBADraftnet
