Then could you have at least beat NC? Cause it's bad enough to lose, and then have the team that beat you lose to the TARHEELS. Johnson gave it his all that game. Just the team didn't show up because Gailey didn't get them up for the game. He made a catch while the UNC defender had been called for pass interference.

You left out "And pushed off for the winning TD but wasn't called for offensive pass interference." Yeah, it's in the college board. What were the chances that he wasn't going to score anyways? Calvin Johnson is an amazing athlete as a freshman and will likely become the best WR to every play for Tech.

Special teams have been horrible in college. Did anybody catch the GT-Clemson game where the long snapper snapped it short to the punter with 15 seconds left and up by 4 and GT got the ball at the 10 and threw a TD pass to win it.

ATL has had its way with the Vikings many times. Remember 2 years ago when Vick made the 50 yd TD run in overtime? He made two Vikings run into each other on his way to his immortal run. Classic.

I think Miami would be willing to give up just about anybody to get a back like Henry.

It would be cool if you got a story line with this team with all the injuries and backups stepping up. Tell us about the newspaper articles.

Atlanta Braves (67-44) vs. Milwaukee Brewers (forgot to write down record but it was pretty decent) Miller Park, Milwaukee 3 Gms
Series Preview The Braves took the series last time these teams met in May 2-1 but they were all close games. The Brewers are only 1 game back from the Central Division leader Astros and lead the NL Wildcard, so they are desparate to keep the lead and keep playing in October.
Who's Hot MIL Geoff Jenkins' bat has been on fire this year. He leads the team in every batting catagory with 26 HR, .292 avg, and 79 RBI. ATL J. D. Drew has started to get the power swing back that he had at the start of the season. He is second on the team in HRs only to MVP canidate Andruw Jones.
AUG 10th ATL- Mike Hampton (13-6) vs. MIL- Ben Sheets (13-7)
Pitching Matchup Another great matchup today. The two aces from each team were going at it. Both have solid ERAs but Hampton's the best at 2.81. If Hampton can get some run support off of Sheets than the Braves will most likely take the W.
PLAY BALL The Braves started hitting Sheets early starting with a base hit by Furcal and a double to score him from Giles for the 1 run lead in the 1st.
1-0 ATL End 1st
But a triple by Austin tied it up in the 2nd. Then Sheets just missed a homer off the wall for a double to bring in Austin.
2-1 MIL Mid 2nd
But Marcus Gile's outstanding play beat Sheets again in the 3rd with an infield hit that scored the tieing run.
2-2 Mid 3rd
But Austin's sacfly in the 6th gave the Brew crew the lead again.
3-2 MIL Mid 6th
Then Overbay got a triple in the 8th to get the lead to 2 and Hall pinch-hit an RBI to bring him in to score.
5-2 MIL Mid 8th
And another sac-fly in the 9th looked like it might have clinched the game for the Brewers.
6-2 MIL Mid 9th
So top-notch closer, Kolb, went into the 9th with a 4 run lead. Game over, right? Not with the Braves. And before you knew it the Braves had the bases loaded with 1 out still down by 4 and Furcal came to the plate representing the tieing run. And he just cleared the bases with a triple and was at third with 1 out still down by 1 run. And who was batting next? Who else, Marcus Giles. As Giles walked to the batters box, Cox gave the signal for a sac-fly to tie the game. Giles hits it high and deep. It looks like its going to score the run. Its still traveling...

Atlanta Braves (65-43) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (57-53)
Series Preview The Braves dominated the D'backs in the last series by sweeping them. In the series, Braves pitchers limited them to only 1 run a game. But the D'backs are in the playoff hunt and are going to take advantage of any slip up by the Braves to move them up in the standings.
Who's Hot ARI Luis Gonzalez has had another solid season so far for the D'backs with 26 HRs and a .269 avg. ATL Marcus Giles has really been heating up lately and hit 3 HRs last game vs. HOU and continues to be a threat
August 6th ATL- Paul Byrd (4-7) @ ARI- Brandon Webb (9-4)
Pitching Matchup Two simular pitchers were going at it today, but Byrd has struggled at times. But Webb is going for a 10-win season.
PLAY BALL Keeping a hot bat, Luis Gonzalez ripped a triple in the 1st with 2 outs and scored when Sexon doubled and the D'backs were on top first.
1-0 ARI End 1st
Then Cintron chugged out a triple as well in the 3rd and Gonzalez came through again with a ground ball to score him.
2-0 ARI End 3rd
As Brandon Webb kept cruising along, Batista gave his team another run in the 4th with a grounder through the hole.
3-0 ARI End 4th
Brandon Webb pitched strong all the way to the 9th and was looking to close out the game only giving up 3 hits so far. But the Braves got two hits and started to threatin, but Alomar's diving play to through out Drew ended it.
3-0 ARI F
WP- Brandon Webb (10-4) LP- Paul Byrd (4-8)
HR- none
Player of the Game Brandon Webb- CG, 5 H, 0 R, BB, 4 K

August 4th ATL- Mike Hampton (12-6) @ HOU- Roy Oswalt (10-6)
Pitching Matchup Today was another great matchup in this close series. Oswalt and 12-game winner, Hampton. Both pitchers have only lost 6 games and have very low ERAs. This one should be a dandy all the way. But Hampton is going to have to go through a red-hot Houston Astro lineup riding high with an 8-game winning streak.
PLAY BALL Well, the shutout ended early for Oswalt as he was greeted by Chipper in the 2nd with a solo-blast to center and the Braves lead early.
1-0 ATL Mid 2nd
Then the "Big Cat", Galarraga, doubled the lead with another RBI in the form of a sac fly in the 4th.
2-0 ATL Mid 4th
As Hampton cruised along merrily through 6 innings, Furcal made the game a bigger deficit with a ripped blast to right field off of Miceli.
3-0 ATL Mid 7th
Then the Astros finally got on the scoreboard on Hampton with an RBI from Guerra.
3-1 ATL End 7th
But the game was over when Smoltz came in the and shutdown the highpowered lineup stop the winning streak and earn his 25th save of the year.
3-1 ATL F
WP- Mike Hampton (13-6) LP- Roy Oswalt (10-7) SV- John Smoltz (25)
HR- Rafael Furcal (8) Chipper Jones (11)
Player of the Game Mike Hampton- 7 IP, 4 H, R, ER, 4 BB, 7 K
August 5th ATL- 12 HOU- 3 F
WP- Horacio Ramirez (10-7) LP- W. Miller (6-6)
HR- Rafael Furcal (9) Marcus Giles 3 (20) Andruw Jones (43) L. Blaisley (1)
Player of the Game Marcus Giles- 4 for 5- 3 HRs, 4 RBI

Atlanta Braves (63-42) @ Houston Astros (60-46) Minute Maid Park, Houston 3 Gms Gm Impact- 6
Series Preview This was a huge mid season matchup between two good teams that could meet in the playoffs. Houston comes into the games with a 6-game winning streak, but the Braves have not been a friend to them. The Braves have dominated HOU recently icluding a sweep of them in the 2001 playoffs. And Atlanta swept the series back in May. It looks like the mental factor is going to be the decider in this game.
Who's Hot HOU Endsberg and Berkman have light up the scoreboards for the Astros this year. They have combined for 46 HRs and a .320 avg and .329 respectively. ATL Russ Ortiz is 9-4 and has only lost 1 since he started 4-3 and is a key player in the 1st game of this series.
August 3rd ATL- 3 HOU- 7 F
WP- Andy Petitte (8-7) LP- Russ Ortiz (9-5)
HR- Andres Galarraga (17) Adam Everett 2 (14) Richard Hidalgo (14) (still with Houston)
Player of the Game Adam Everett- 2 for 4- 2 HR, 3 RBI

And the cool thing was I didn't plan it. Heilman just pissed me off and I said heck Matthews can come in for Andruw. Let's just make sure Heilman gets the message!
(By the way, how do you bean a batter? I put the ball all the way over when Heilman was batting, but it didn't go far enough.)
