Not sure. The teams that came over from the Big East will probably all be in the same division though.

Nope. Division A Division B Maryland Miami Clemson Virginia NC State Virginia Tech Wake Georgia Tech FSU UNC Boston College Duke
IMO, it is stupid, because they want Miami and FSU to be in separate divisions, they screw up some of the basketball matchups.

I think some of the basketball matchups between divisions will be protected as part of a "natural rivalry" thing. ALMOST FOOTBALL SEASON!!!!

thats true.
Basketball will not be using the divisions.
The have a schedule where you play every team once than a certain 2 teams twice (home and away) and than it rotates which other teams you play twice.
For example, I know Maryland will play Duke and Virginia both at home and away every year.

Do you know if it will be east/west or north/south? Or something else? Because the divisions really kind of mix together geographically. Just Curious....

I don't think they have said just yet, but you are right, it won't be east-west or north south.

www.theacc.comOct. 17, 2003 Division A.................. Division B Maryland................... Virginia Clemson.................... Georgia Tech NC State.................... North Carolina Wake Forest.............. Duke Florida State.............. Miami Boston College........... Virginia Tech Teams play all five opponents in own division plus one primary crossover (directly across on grid) in the opposite division and two rotating opponents in opposite division.

They made a point of not making it east-west or north-south, primarily due to Coach K's objections to that idea.

Frankly though, while i would've like to see geographical divisions, it would've been unbalanced if it was North-South, which would be the easiest way. But an east-west idea might have worked
Lets try North-South
North................South
Boston College.....Miami Maryland..............Clemson Virginia.................Florida State Virginia Tech.........Georgia Tech Duke.....................North Carolina Wake Forest.........NCState
now try east-west
East...................West Maryland............Clemson Miami..................Florida State Virginia...............Viginia Tech NCState..............Wake Forest Boston College...Georgia Tech Duke...................North Carolina
Plus i think that divisional alignment would be decent at keeping rivalries as well, except for NCState-Clemson.

If we get to make up our own, I want to throw in Good.............Not so Good Miami............V Tech FSU...............Wake Clemson........GTech Maryland.......BC NCState........Duke Virginia..........UNC And then they could change it every year based on the previous years records. I would prefer a North South, as that would help with travelling (Miami-BC is 1500 Miles). As it is, apparently Miami is trying to throw their weight around to keep from travelling to Clemson every year. Students there have told me that they want to have at least one "Home only" series to reduce travelling. I think it is because they are scared of Death Valley.

A______________B Miami__________Virginia FSU___________ V Tech BC____________Duke Wake Forest_____UNC Georgia Tech____ Maryland NC State________Clemson I take it you felt compelled to correct our error of not putting duke and UNC in the same division. I guess we will just have to see what happens with it.
