This happens every year. THeres always some team from a mid-major confernce that almost gets into a BCS game then chokes in the last couple of weeks. Same will happen this year Will some of them choke......YES. However I think this year we have 3 legit mid-major contenders to go to a BCS bowl. Utah, Fresno, and Boise. 2 of them WILL choke the other will have a shot. That is my prediction. Aside from these 3 there a probably several others who could potnetially sneak in, among them Memphis, TCU, Southern Miss, and Louisville.

You know, I think that if any mid-major team runs the table, that team stands a VERY good chance of getting into a BCS bowl. Much better than 40 percent. Maybe 80 percent or so. It sorta depends on how many teams in BCS conferences are ranked higher than the mid-major in question but are NOT champions of their conferences. Consider: In 2003, my school, TCU, was undefeated until our next-to-last in-conference game. Before losing to Southern Miss, we had been ranked as high as 6th in the BCS (I seem to recall we were No. 8 the week of the $12 million loss) - back when the BCS formula included a separate factor for SoS, a factor that hurt TCU more than any other. Had we not lost, we still might not have gotten into a BCS bowl because of the late season craziness with OU and K State (although denying us a big bowl when OSU could still have one would have been difficult to justify at a time when the BCS was under major pressure about accessibility). My point is this: The human polls seem to like undefeateds late in the season, and since the BCS gives a LOT more weight to the human polls now, I think any undefeated mid-major will be ranked quite high in the BCS. Whether those teams get BCS bowls depends largely upon the situations with non-champions being ranked and with pressure upon the BCS about being accessible to the smaller conferences. Nice post. Point taken. GO UTAH!!!

There chances are much better now because the BCS no longer has a separate component that is for SOS That is true, maybe we can watch a Oklahoma vs. Boise State Orange Bowl.

I would say it is about even between Utah, and Fresno. If either team ran the table I would say they would have maybe a 40% chance of making a BCS bowl game.

The BIG 12 is at times overrated. However this year it is simply the BIG 12 North that is overrated.

I think it might be a little overrated this year, but probably not much. Overrated or not, I will always watch the Big 12. I am a Texas native, so I'm right in the heart of it. UT is my second favorite team (right after TCU, of course), and I keep up with OU, OSU, Tech, A&M, Nebraska, Kansas, Mizzou and K State a bit as well. I certainly don't think it's the best conference (that honor still goes to the [glow=red,2,300]SEC[/glow] in my mind right now, with the Big Eleven, the ACC and the Big 12 about even), but I sure as hell enjoy watching it. Finally another Texan ;D Did you by any chance watch U of H get killed by OU. Ah..that was funny. Saw Houston get beat by Rice over at Reliant last weekend, that was also entertaining. BIG 12 is overrated, but not as much as the Pathetic 10.

Does anyone else out there think that the Big 12 is the most over rated conference this year? The PAC 10 is the most overrated conference. The BIG 12 North is the only real problem for the BIG 12, the South is solid. My Conference Rankings so far.... 1. SEC 2. ACC 3. BIG 10 4. BIG 12 5. PAC 10 6. CUSA 7. WAC 8. BIG EAST 9. MWC 10. MAC 11. Sunbelt

That would be confusing. I will take the Trojans over the Trojans.
By the way...the game just went final. Troy State......24 Mizzou...........14

If Troy were to somehow get to a BCS bowl (which in my mind will not happen), they should play USC (which in my mind will not get to a BCS bowl either.) We can then see which "Men of Troy" are better.

You know what if they some how beat LSU I'm sure they could run the table in the Sun Belt. If they went undefeated would they go to a BCS? Troy St. will not beat LSU in death valley. No they wouldn't go to a BCS bowl even if they did. And I choose to stick with Troy State, because simply saying Troy seems like a USC reference, at least to me. I don't know why it does, I just can not say Troy. So anyway, GO TROY STATE!!!but lose to LSU!!!

It looks like either Mizzou is overrated, Troy is underrated, or a little of both. Or maybe it's just first game jitters. 4th quarter Troy up 17-14. Troy is underrated. Mizzou is overrated. First game jitters, of course. I'm waitin for the LSU vs Troy St game down in Baton Rouge later on this year. Troy St. will win the Sunbelt.

THey also probably wouldnt have gotten the TD if they wouldn't have to do whatever they did to get penalty. Field goals are also a lot easier to miss than Extra points. Also how late in the game did they score to tie game? pretty late, right. I realize that we wouldn't get the TD back. I was simply trying to make my point that LSU had some chances and didn't capitalize. Same with OSU. LSUs victory wasn't luck.
