its still a great aclomplishment though For a team 35 games below .500. Just like when A.Rod played for the Rangers, it obviously takes away from the team aspect. I would rather have a team of players, than 2 Ichiro's. If it made that big a difference, either he would lead in RBIs, or the guy behind him would. Neither do.

First off, it's not really a good record. He has 47 MORE singles than the previous record holder. He also has 8 more games to set the record. Kind of like Roger Maris and his asterisk.

Does anybody remember the SNL skit where they discussed changing the name of the Basketball team. "Washington has decided that their name of the Washington Bullets is too violent. From now on they will be known simply as The Bullets"
They could do something with D.C., like the MLS team known as D.C. United. (which is a ripoff of about 30 premiere league teams)

They haven't decided. However, the mayor has said he doesn't want them the be called the Senators again. I'm not sure why. The Monuments and the Grays are pretty high up there. The Grays were a Negro League team, according to ESPN.

I have no problem with Cox as a manager, cause apparently he does fairly well. However, he needs to learn to make his team play better in the Series. They won as many World Series championships as the Twins did in the 90s. I hope whoever wins the NL beats the Yankees.

We will take the wild card, and eventually the world series. Now now, let's not get hasty here. You'll have to beat the Cards to even get there (probably).

Bonds only needs maybe 3 years to pass Aaron, 2 decent years, or another record breaking year. So it's not a stretch, considering how well he is still playing. He will pass the Babe before next June.

Jesse, if you want to make your own "Making fun of Republicans" thread, go right ahead. But hijacking this one is uncalled for. Everyone picks their nose. People who are on camera alot might get caught doing it. Kerry got hit in the face with a football. Back to your regularly scheduled programming now. Q: What happens when you cross a pig with a Democrat? A: Nothing. There are some things a pig won’t do. ———————————————— Q: What’s the difference between Al Franken and a slab of formica? A: Absolutely nothing. —————————————————— Q: What’s a conservative? A: A liberal who made it through adolescence. —————————————————— Vote Democrat… It’s easier than getting a job. ——————————————————

It's so fun. You do it. Your friends do it. Everybody join in, but keep it clean.
Ever since Michael Dukakis suffered a terrible drubbing at the polls for flashing his ACLU card in public and for identifying himself as a liberal without embarrassment, the dreaded “L” word has fallen into wide disfavor, even disrepute. Some liberal politicians, like Bill Clinton, don’t like to use it all. Nevertheless, it’s still possible to know who’s a liberal and who is not.
You might be a liberal if . . .
You think that consenting adults can engage freely in every activity except capitalism.
You named your children Moonglow and Arizona.
You think the really alarming violence takes place outside the abortion clinic.
You’ve ever referred to the “root cause” of something.
You pray to “The Woman Upstairs.”
You think we never gave peace a chance.
You had to be told that “Manhattan,” “menopause” and “boycott” were not sexist words
You begin sentences with the words “I feel.”
Your driver’s license has a hyphen because for you one last name just isn’t enough.
You don’t think “All in the Family” is a very funny program, but watch it anyway because Meathead makes a lot of sense.
You think OJ is out looking for the real killers.
You think Julia Sugarbaker is an astute social commentator.
You think it takes a village.
You think that the words “to promote the general welfare” in the Constitution mean to promote welfare generally.
You think that, even though more people voted against him than for him in both the 1992 and the 1996 presidential elections, Bill Clinton had a mandate.
You think that conservatives, like preservatives, ought to be federally regulated.
You ever wore earth shoes.
You have ever wondered out loud, “Why can’t we all just get along?”
You think the New York Times prints all the news that’s fit.
You think that Rush Limbaugh is just an entertainer.
You spent Columbus Day reading Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.
You reach the limits of your talent and then complain that you ran into a glass ceiling.
You wear more ribbons on your lapel than in your hair.
You think that the really dangerous McCarthy was Joe, not Eugene.
You blame the Unabomber’s parents.
You fail to see the connection between Lenin and Lennon.
You have ever agreed with Martin Sheen or Barbra Streisand.

If the new site has it's own picture server, more people will sign up. I say that because many people are lazy and don't have their own picture servers online. Thus, if they can just upload their own pictures, then more will be apt to do so. Plus, maybe we can change the color scheme. Although it will probably have a similar title bar. I think it should be the Sox instead of the Redbirds.

You see, the difference between the two parties is significant. Republicans are proactive, Democrats reactionary. Exemplified by the fact that Bush is still in Iraq, even though many people think it might not be going well. Compare this to Clinton's handling of Kosovo. If the Democratic Party would have a stance, instead of taking everything the Republicans have and dimming it a bit, they would stand a chance. Republicans learned a lot about campaigning because they had to work hard to win the House after 40 years of Dems owning it. Now the Dem party is floundering. Daschle is gone. Kerry lost. They lost seats in the House, and the Senate. I see Kerry taking over the party leader in the Senate as sort of a consolation prize.

Kerry conceding has nothing to do with Bush staying president. The voting records show that he won. Even if Kerry hadn't conceded, Bush would have won.
