As I just said in the Coaches Poll thread, I think Michegan shouldn't be in the top 25, as this early in the season the only teams in there should be undefeateds.
On another note, I'm glad to see five mid-majors in there.

Im going with Kansas. Yeah I know most people are going to laugh at that with the History of the program, but they are playing far better than anyone else in the Big 12 North. Not that THAT'S saying much...

No need to thank me. It's the truth. OU lost the Big 12 Championship because they didn't give a damn.

everyone was saying that even if they lost they would still make the champ game. That is precisely why OU lost. Don't try to blame it on Jason White being out. Similarly, Jayhawksfan, I'm sorry, but K State was NOT the bettter team. OU lost that game because the players didn't give a damn, and it showed. Intangibles can make all the difference in the world.

Cool. Nice to know we're just outside of the top 25. I think that's about accurate right now. If we defeat Texas Tech this Saturday, I personally think we deserve top 25 standing.
Tell me, is SoS a consideration?

Out of a personal curiosity for my team, where did TCU end up in your rankings, tigerbait?

Not a bad list, tigerbait. And I'm not going to argue with your placement of ND at No. 1 at all. You're right. For years, the Irish OWNED college football.

You do realize that every school's team is a different team each year, right? Therefore, each school should have a year next to it if you want this to be a question of which TEAM is best. Or, you could change the question to "Which school has had the best team the most in NCAA Football history?" and it would apply to your choices.

West Virginia, the most overrated team ever. More overrated than my school's 2003 team?

LoboFlyer, Memphis and TCU do not meet this year. It is conceivable, although not terribly likely, that both could go undefeated.
And I think you underestimate the Horned Frogs' chances if we succeed in Lubbock this weekend. No, it's not easy sailing (we're not in the WAC anymore, after all), but in the past two seasons, we have beaten every one of our C-USA opponents this year at least once, twice in most cases (i.e. all but Cincy and Southern Miss).
My money's still on Boise State or Utah to make a run at the BCS. I hope it's Boise, to speed up its invitation into the Mountain West, and to give TCU somebody good to play (Utah) in the Liberty Bowl if we go.

I would say it is about even between Utah, and Fresno. If either team ran the table I would say they would have maybe a 40% chance of making a BCS bowl game. You know, I think that if any mid-major team runs the table, that team stands a VERY good chance of getting into a BCS bowl. Much better than 40 percent. Maybe 80 percent or so. It sorta depends on how many teams in BCS conferences are ranked higher than the mid-major in question but are NOT champions of their conferences. Consider: In 2003, my school, TCU, was undefeated until our next-to-last in-conference game. Before losing to Southern Miss, we had been ranked as high as 6th in the BCS (I seem to recall we were No. 8 the week of the $12 million loss) - back when the BCS formula included a separate factor for SoS, a factor that hurt TCU more than any other. Had we not lost, we still might not have gotten into a BCS bowl because of the late season craziness with OU and K State (although denying us a big bowl when OSU could still have one would have been difficult to justify at a time when the BCS was under major pressure about accessibility). My point is this: The human polls seem to like undefeateds late in the season, and since the BCS gives a LOT more weight to the human polls now, I think any undefeated mid-major will be ranked quite high in the BCS. Whether those teams get BCS bowls depends largely upon the situations with non-champions being ranked and with pressure upon the BCS about being accessible to the smaller conferences.

I think a mid-major will break in this year at long last. Dunno who it'll be, though. Might be Utah, might be Fresno State, might be Boise State, might be Memphis, might be TCU, might be Southern Miss, might be someone we haven't really thought about yet (although I doubt it). Personally, my money's on it being Utah, TCU or Boise.

I think it might be a little overrated this year, but probably not much.
Overrated or not, I will always watch the Big 12. I am a Texas native, so I'm right in the heart of it. UT is my second favorite team (right after TCU, of course), and I keep up with OU, OSU, Tech, A&M, Nebraska, Kansas, Mizzou and K State a bit as well.
I certainly don't think it's the best conference (that honor still goes to the SEC in my mind right now, with the Big Eleven, the ACC and the Big 12 about even), but I sure as hell enjoy watching it.

Oklahoma. Or, if Texas somehow pulls out a win over OU, then Texas has a shot.
My one solid prediction: It will NOT be USC.
