Novak missed a 49 yarder to win it for UMD.
Then Maryland blocked a WVU 39 yarder and we're going to OT.

Great play in the endzone by Derrick Fenner. I think WVU didn't use the opportunities they were given, now the Maryland D is stout as well.
But a ways to go still.

hey, yall better bring it! we got the couches ready to burn. I know we said the gator bowl was payback, and that didn't work, but this time, seriously, it's payback. oh yea, and Nebraska sucks this year as if we all didn't know it already. I'm actually surprised with how gentile this post was. WVU fans have been all over UMD boards the past week saying things like "the past doesn't matter" and we're gonna whip your ass 55-3." Does WVU have a good team? Yes. Could they beat Maryland? Yes. But tell me why you think your starting right tackle can handle Shawne Merriman at the LEO position, not how Maryland fans are as scared as they were during the Sniper situation a few years back. I know CountryBoy didn't stoop that low, and I'm sure he is like most West Virginians who are decent hard-working people, but this just gave me a chance to vent. If you wanna see it for yourself, go to the normally cordial www.fridgetv.com

I hope West Virginia loses, they would be a 7-5 team in any other conference Yeah, good pont. If they were in the ACC they would be either be the number 8 9, or 10 team in the pre-season (depending on how good people think Wake and VaTech are). They would be VERY lucky to go to a bowl game.

I hope Maryland wins, WV is overrated I believe you are right about WVU, the only problem for the Terps is that if we win big (again) then the consensus will be that WVU is extremely overrated, and Maryland will not have earned a great deal of respect. Though i think that may end up being a good interpretation. Saturday at Noon on ESPN2.

To everyone's surpriose I'm goin with Maryland.
I think Maryland's far superior at the non-glamour positions. (i.e. OLine, DLine, LB, TE/HBack)

The game is in Morgantown and this game can make or break WVU's respectability this year.
Maryland is 4-0 against WVU in the last 3 years (since both teams got new coaches). West Virginia has never led in the last 4 meetings.
Maryland leads the all-time series 21-19-2. It began in 1919.
The game has been played every year since 1980.
West Virginia leads the series 10-9-1 at Mountaineer field.
Maryland has beaten Northern Illinois and Temple in Byrd Stadium this season and is 2-0.
West Virginia has beaten East Carolina at home and Central Florida in Orlando this year, they are also 2-0.
West Virginia is ranked 7th and 8th in the polls, Maryland is ranked 21st and 19th.
West Virginia's Kay-Jay Harris (HB) is questionable for the game. He is the only major injury on either team.

Wow.
See thats the way we should argue on this board.
Thank you VERY much.
Now, to the arguements...
the teams i have 20-25
Boise State has been less impressive than i thought they would be. If they were in the ACC i think they would be something on the order of 4-4 (but i have thoughts they may be worse)
anyway, I have NCState at 20 because (like about 8 other ACC teams) they have an amazing defense and a consistantly capable offense (unlike FSU, UMD, GT, VT and, UVA)
I've said before that in these rankings I take into real account homefield advantage. NCState won in College Park and in Blacksburg both of which were real impressive. They lost a close game in Death Valley, which doesn't necesarrily make them worse Clemson due to home field advantage, if the game was in Raleigh, i think NCSU wins.
Maryland beat FSU and NIU at home and lost to NCState and GT at home. Maryland outplayed Clemson, and, frankly, won the football game if it wasn't for possibly the worst call of the season on a pass interference call in the endzone. (The ACC has admitted that it was a bad call, btw) So, honestly, Maryland outplayed and beat Clemson in a close game in Death Valley.
Wake Forest has been one play away from winning every ballgame, they haven't made those plays, but they've almost beaten Clemson in Death Valley, NCState in Raleigh then VT and FSU at home. They have a flat out good football team, just something needs to go right for them. (Side note though, seriously, watch them play, you'll be more impressed than you'd expect.) The Duke win was not impressive, and I think I should move them behind Clemson because of it.
Clemson, of course, has earned me a great deal of trouble on this board for sticking with them during a tough stretch. They can play, as evidenced by the NCState win. They barely beat Wake (2OT), and barely lost to GT, they should've been better agains FSU, UVA, and A&M, but all of those games were at tough road venues. That'll continue at Miami this weekend. They may have the toughest schedule in the nation (them or UNC)
I have to go... I'll post more arguements later.

To everyone calling this a "poll": It's not. A poll is something that people vote on, like the Coaches' poll and the AP poll. This is merely a ranking. I should point out that the BCS is also technically a ranking rather than a poll, since you don't have people voting to determine 100 percent of the rankings but rather an average of several factors, some of which are in fact polls. That said, this is one of the most ignorant rankings I've ever seen. I've been impressed with your logic. Its not a poll, thats true, and your signature shows you have a good level of knowledge of logic. SO... give me some logical reasons that my rankings are ignorant.

They have shown weakness this year but I was just saying that since you have Mizzou as just out and since we beat them, they could be there. Southern Miss is now in the top 25 and Texas Tech played great that game and Nebraska sucked it up big time. Nebraska should be able to win 2 (win against Iowa State and Colorado and lose to Oklahoma) of the next 3 if they can play with some fire like they did against Mizzou. Thanks for the input. It's true the Southern Miss loss wasn't as bad as we thought at the time. I'll have to watch Nebraska play either Iowa State, OU, or Colorado. Like i said, right now, I think Colorado and Iowa Stata may both beat Nebraska. But if Nebraska can beat them both, I WILL HAVE THEN UNDERESTIMATED THE CORNHUSKERS. Of course, if they topple OU, i'll have been way off.

Alright, while the insults are fun, does anybody actually have anything to say?
Say who you think is better than i think they are.
Tell me WHY.
on Nebraska, the Mizzou win was a good win.
But other than that Nebraska has defeated Western Illinois, Pittsburg, Kansas, and Baylor. And the loss at Texas Tech and at home against Southern Miss showed real weaknesses.
I don't think Nebraska has a good football team. The offense can't throw, and the D has alot of trouble stopping the run.
The athletes aren't there to make plays when needed either.
Of course i could be wrong, if Nebraska wins 2 of the next 3 games i will have underestimated them.

Because I think Oklahoma, Auburn, and Texas are better football teams. USC has played 3 decent football teams and only looked like a top 5 team against 1 of them. VT would likely have beat them in Blacksburg, and Cal would've likely have beat them in Berkley. In both of those games they were unimpressive and looked like a good, but not great, football team. The were impressive against ASU however, and that is why they are ahead of teams like Wisconsin, Miami, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, and California. USC has a good but not great D, and an only slightly better than average receiving corp. Teams like OU, Texas, and Auburn don't have as many weaknesses.
